'Yam'azing Sweet Potatoes!

We consider the humble sweet potato to be an 'yam'azing functional ingredient and love it so much it is included in every one of our recipes.

To start with they are complex carbohydrate with a lower glycemic index to slowly release energy throughout the day. This is great to avoid blood sugar peaks, improving satiety to keep your dog fuller for longer and helps to provide that much needed energy for daily activities.

Sweet potato as well as providing a great source of easily digestible carbohydrates, they also contain B Vitamins and minerals. Being packed with a variety of vitamins and minerals make them a great choice as they really add to benefits of a healthy dog food. We love sweet potatoes because they are:

  • High in fibre which promotes a healthy digestive system and good stool formulation

  • Great for sensitive dog because they are kind on the stomach

  • A complex carbohydrate with a lower GI which means they release energy slowly between meals

  • A source of Vitamin A which is an antioxidant powerhouse and is thought to have anti-ageing properties along with helping to maintain good eye sight and aid skin and coat condition

  • Rich in beta- carotene, an antioxidant thought to have anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties

  • Contain a lot of magnesium, which is thought to help with stress and promote calmness, good mood and relaxation.

Because of this we believe that sweet potatoes are an excellent alternative to grains. Sweet huh?

Packed Full Of Goodness

We all love to get the most out of something and that's why we love functional ingredients. Functional ingredients might include fruits, vegetables, botanicals, whole grains, dietary supplements, probiotics and prebiotics.

What makes them functional is because they provide health benefits beyond the provision of essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, water, proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

This means it promotes a long healthy life for your dog.
