At Bone Idol we care about you and your dogs. During this time of uncertainty, we are doing everything we can to protect our customers and our staff because we all have a part to play in supporting those around us.

We are following all the advice and support from the Government, local authorities and Public Health England. We will, of course, update you using various channels and here on our website as the situation changes.

Dog Grooming - 98 St James Street :

We are now taking booking for dog grooming appointments from the 29th of March.
 
Following updated Government guidance and the DEFRA statement, dog groomers can now re-open for dog grooming appointments from the 29th of March 2021.
 
Prior to this date we can only accept "welfare cases" where the dog meets specific health related criteria. If you feel that this could include you please contact the team 01273 695631.
 
Appointments for the 29th March onwards will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, but we will still have priority slots for welfare cases which are limited.

Our Brighton Shop on St James's Street is open with slightly reduced hours: Monday to Friday 9-5pm.

Dog Grooming - 98 St James Street :

We are providing grooming to dogs that meet the criteria of a “welfare groom” as set out by the Pet Industry Federation (PIF) and Defra.

 

If you meet any of the criteria below, please do call us and we will book you an appointment:

  • A professional groom has been recommended by my vet.
  • My dog has got lots of matted fur / heavy coat that’s causing discomfort.
  • My dog’s groom cannot be delayed without effecting its welfare
  • My dog’s breed is prone to matting and delaying its groom will cause discomfort
  • My dogs’ behaviour does not allow me to groom it at home.
  • My dog has a skin condition / allergies that requires regular cleansing, or the coat to be kept shorter.
  • My puppy requires grooming socialisation for its ongoing welfare.
  • My dog’s nails are overgrown and causing discomfort.

Bone Idol Academy - 50 Blatchington Road, Hove :

The Bone Idol Academy re-opens on 1 March, following guidance from Ofqual regarding in person training.

 

As always, we will be taking all relevant Covid precautions including use of PPE, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and ventilation.

Dog Grooming - 98 St James Street :

The Pet Industry Federation (PIF) and Defra have issued a statement in summary this is:

"Groomers may accept a dog to be groomed by appointment where this is necessary for the animal’s welfare and not simply for aesthetic reasons. Welfare reasons could include: on veterinary advice for a skin condition or excessive matting causing the pet discomfort. When routine grooming can be delayed without affecting the pet’s welfare until the national lockdown is eased it should be put off."

We will arrange an assessment on a case by case basis using these official guidelines.

All students and dog owners will be contacted individually to confirm dates.

Update 12-01-2021

 

We are constantly monitoring the current situation and regularly reviewing the advice on the current situation. This afternoon the Pet Industry Federation in consultation with DEFRA updated its advice. Therefore, with this information and the continuing rise in cases and hospitalisations of Covid-19, we have made the decision to close the shop and grooming parlour on St James's Street as of close of business on Tuesday 12 January 2021.

 

We will continue to update and review our dedicated Covid-19 Update Page as we receive information from the Government, Public Health England and Industry professional bodies.
